Saint Paul's Academy Class of 1973
Travis Comerford Memorial Tree planted June 2011 by Trinity Catholic School Children
Sister Liz Snyder and Sister Anne Collins served our St. Paul's students in the 1970's.
Sister Elizabeth Snyder (formerly Sister Lisette) said a lifelong love of learning started when she was just a young girl attending a small country school.
"It was a family-based Catholic school and as I remember, the education I received there helped me build confidence and study skills," Sister Snyder recalled.
She continued that love of education by becoming a Sister of St. Joseph and pursuing a ministry as a teacher at St. Monica and Blessed Sacrament, Rochester;St. Paul's Academy, Oswego; Our Lady of Lourdes, Brighton; and as principal at Nazareth Hall Middle School.
She retired from education after 15 years of teaching and 31 years of being a principal.
"My ministry and story continue as I now am engaged in hospitality ministry at our motherhouse under the title of house director," she explained. "Only our gracious God knows what will unfold in my life along the journey of service for him through others."
Sister Ann Collins (formerly Sister Lambert) believes education is the perennial "need of the day." Throughout her religious life, she has been engaged in the ministry of education, elementary and secondary.
Sister Collins has ministered at St. John the Evangelist, Greece; St. James, Waverly; St. Paul's Academy, Oswego; and St. Ambrose and the Nazareth Schools, Rochester. She is currently on sabbatical.
Reflecting on her 50th jubilee, Sister Collins noted why the SSJs are special.
"To this day, I admire my sisters in community, those who use their gifts and talents unstintingly in service to others, whether it be as educators, pastoral ministers, health-care providers or missionaries," she said. "I also admire the fact that each sister has the freedom to invest herself in work that best expresses her God-given talents."

I was both surprised and happy to find this site. The years that I spent @ SPA were great. The nuns and priest there made a major impact on my life and I will always be grateful to them.
I went from OHS to the USMC and have not really been back to Oswego since. I have been married to my lovely wife Peggy for 47 years and have two children Thomas & Pamela. I also have been blessed with five grandchildren.
I would be glad to hear from any of my classmates. Of course I still remember you as a bright shiny faced student!

Graduated St. Paul's Academy 1989
Hi!
My name is Amanda (Mandy) Fisher and I am a graduate of St. Paul's Academy, class of 1989! I know that because of my early experience with such a wonderful school and church, I am where I am today because of those experiences. I mostly remember Mr. Lagoe, my Physical Education Teacher for 7 years there. I am now a Kindergarten-5th Grade Elementary Physical Education Teacher too! I have begun my 12th year of teaching and I teach at Naramake Elementary School in Norwalk, CT. I have a Masters Degree in Health Education and a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. I was a 4 year college athlete as well, in swimming. I am preparing to run my third full marathon in January. My teachers were Mrs. Wright (k), Mrs Carroll (1st), Mrs Alfred (2nd), Mrs. Keen (3rd and 4th grades), Mrs. Podewils (5th) and Mrs. Fritton (6th grade). Mrs. Trent was my art teacher. What fond memories I have from those years!

I was the fourth of my family to go through St. Paul's. My older sisters Sally, Patty and Cathy preceded me. Cathy preceded me by only one year - we were in some of the same classes together. Those were the days when some of the the nun's taught two classes of 30 each simultaneously - even different grade levels! All of my younger siblings also went to St. Paul's - Sandy, Mickey, Artie, and Jerry O'Neil. I went on to Oswego Catholic High School and then to Oswego State where I majored in chemistry. I then became a science teacher at Liverpool Middle School. I taught there for 34 years and am now retired. I spend my time maintaining and creating web pages for the school I retired from and various other groups. I have a wife, Kim, who is a teacher in Liverpool, and two daughters, Kathleen, in ninth grade, and Erin, in sixth grade (I married late!). I have fond memories of St. Paul's and I think that I received a first class education there. I remember Sister Mary David more than any of the other nuns - I had her for three different years! I also had a crush on her! I also remember Sister Scholastica - who had a fierce reputation but who was not really that bad, after all. I never saw more misbehavior in any of my other classes than in hers. I also remember Sister Mary Gerald. I still live in Liverpool, New York, and my kids go to Liverpool schools.

Moved to Orlando, FL with my husband and first daughter (Margaret Mary AKA Peggy) in 1966. M.Ed. from the University of Central Florida in 1990 in Instructional Technology, Educational Media. I am currently a media specialist at Winter Springs High School in Winter Springs, FL. We make our home in Longwood, Fl, outside of Orlando. We have two other daughters: Katherine (Katie) and Elizabeth (Betsy), and our first grandchild, Riley James Bassett, born Aug. 14, 1997.(son of Peggy and Jim Bassett).
I remember several of the nuns: Sr. Ambrosine, Sr. Mary Gerald, Sr. Mary David, Sr. Louise, and of course, Sr. Scholastica.
My sisters Martha Riley Andreo SPA'63 and Meg Riley Schneider SPA'64 and I are fourth-generation graduates of SPA. My mother, Anne Riley, taught third and fourth grade at St. Paul's between 1962 and 1967. At the time, there were only four lay teachers: Mary McElhone, Lillian Burke, mom, and then Carol Alfred. Our father, Francis T. Riley, his mother, Florence Hoey Riley, and her father, Henry Hoey, were all graduates of St. Paul's. St. Paul's Academy provided us with a strong educational background upon which to build. We are very grateful.

While surfing the net I was amazed to find St Paul's web page. It really brought back many fond memories of days long gone by. The picture of the old church was fantastic. That is the way I remember it. I graduated from there in 1963. My God that was awhile back! My days there were happy days. I especially remember my 8th grade teacher, Sr. Pierre. She taught me many things but most important to have faith in myself. I don't know if she is still with us, but if she is, and she can read this, Thank you for being my teacher. I also remember the CYO Basketball games. Especially the ones against our arch rivals St. Johns. For those of you who remember that, need I say more. Well now I'm all grown up, at least that's what they tell me: with a wife, 3 grown children and 2 grand children. We live in Boynton Beach, Fl.

Comments: St Paul's Parish and School have always been special to me. They have always felt like my home. Our daughter Colleen, is currently in sixth grade and she to will soon become an alumni. What a surprise to find a link to my "old school". And what should I see first in the Alumni section but someone I recognize in the picture. Paul grew up down the street from me. I am a 1969 graduate currently living near Lancaster, Pa. I've settled down into a career in data processing managing the computer systems for a world size printing company. I have no outstanding claim to fame other than getting married (and staying married to the same woman for 21 years - a St. Mary's graduate) and raising two great sons who attend our local Catholic elementary school. Should any of my teachers ever stop by this site, I'd love to get in contact with them. I'd especially love hearing from "Sister Justine". I'm sure she'll remember Frank Ellen and myself. I can be e-mailed at: jeff.burke@rrd.com

Currently work as a Topo/Design Surveyor for Modi Engineering of Syracuse. Married Peggy White of Fulton (Immaculate Conception class of 1971). We have 2 kids Eric Thomas who is 10 and Lindsay Elizabeth age 6. We have lived in Fulton for about 10 years now though we are in Oswego regularly.
Those times were pretty special in the 60's at SPA though I didn't know it at the time. We had 3 great teachers in Sisters Justine, Elizabeth and Ann. The class trips, the dances, the play competition and the skating parties with St. John's and St. Mary's don't seem like such distant memories after browsing the SPA web site. I still count quite a few people from those days among my closest friends. I would love to hear from any of the SPA Alum out there especially the class of 70!

After SPA and BCHS I attended Mohawk Valley CC where I received a AAS Degree in Mechanical Technology. (1980) After MVCC I worked for Black Claussen in Fulton for 3 short months. I then went to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie NY as a Mechanical Designer. I worked in Poughkeepsie. In 1986 I transferred with IBM to Owego NY where I worked as a Quality Engineer on Defense Programs. After I decided I had enough of working for a large company and red tape, I left IBM and took a position with Hartzell Mfg. in Minnesota. This is where I currently reside with my wife Debbie (Coyer of Oswego) and 2 sons Trevor and Tyler. We have been in the Midwest for 2 years and really enjoy the laid back life style. I have been active coaching youth sports for 18 years and coach both boys in Hockey, Soccer and Football. I still enjoy cars and racing but have taken up quieter sports such as boating and fishing. I still miss the Rudy's fish fry and have some sent to me each summer.
